Sanctuary Cove Festival – Art Weekend
The Art weekend will take place on June 18, 19 & 20 in the Main Pavilion, Marine Village Sanctuary Cove. The children’s mural will be performed between 10am – 3pm Sunday 20th by two artists from the face painting company.
Opening hours of the Art Festival over the weekend (Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th) are 10am – 4pm. Entry is free of charge.

ART FESTIVAL OPENING
The Art Festival will be opened on Friday 18th at the cocktail function from 7pm – 10:30pm, Special guest ironwoman Hayley Bateup will be painted by renowed body painting artist Milana Tornatore.

MARITIME GALLERY
Located in the main Pavilion, the Maritime Art Gallery will consist of a collection of up to one hundred historical and contemporary works by the Vice President of the Australian Society of Marine Artists, Mr Don Braben.
SANCTUARY COVE GALLERY
The Sanctuary Cove Gallery will consist of up to one hundred and fifty paintings. The subject matter and painting style will be varied to include landscape, seascape, still life, wildlife, urban landscape, and figure in landscape.
PHOTOGRAPHIC GALLERY
The Photographic Gallery will be a display of up to fifty framed photographs by various artists with a variety of subject matter.
EMERGING ART GALLERY
The Emerging Art Gallery will consist of artworks completed by young and emerging artists. The artworks will encompass a broader range of mediums including paintings, sculpture, textile glass and video art. The exhibition will comprise of up to 50 pieces.
* All artworks displayed in the main Pavilion will be available for sale to the general public

Roger Davy having recently performed to standing ovations at Jupiters Casino, at the opening of the Audi Gold Coast Titans Gala Ball. Music under the Stars at Sanctuary Cove, and The Sanctuary Cove Boat show with his “Pavarotti tribute”. Former member of the Ten Tenors, Roger Davy returns to Gold Coast with Festa Musicale, this time at Red Rock Waterfront Restaurant, Hope Island.

Leslie who has performed with Roger and Vavachi Entertainment for the past 7 years is traveling to Switzerland in a few weeks’ time to sing the role of Norina in the comic opera Don Pasquale by Donizetti. Arosa is a ski resort near St Moritz where, in Summer, they have a Music Festival which includes an opera, orchestral concerts and puppet performances. Leslie will be working with performers from the USA and Europe in the beautiful setting of a natural forest amphitheatre. At 1800m above sea level, the Hills really will be alive with the sound of music!
The show will include the finest classical moments ranging from arias such as; Amigos para Simper, Libiamo (La Traviata) La Donna e Mobile, (Rigoletto) O Sole Mio, Torna A Sorriento, Time to say Goodbye and Nessun Dorma to more contemporary hits including; (You Raise Me Up) and Granada and Amigos Par Siempre (Friends for Life) as well as featuring songs from their latest Showstoppers, the concert will also pay tribute to late great Queensland Soprano “Gladys Moncrieff” featuringsongs including Villa and You never walk alone. There will also be a stunning tribute to longest running musical The Phantom of the Opera along with Roger Davy’s tribute to one and only Pavarotti.

Red Shield Appeal doorknock, 29th May ~ 6th June
The Red Shield Appeal is our year-round nationwide fundraising appeal to meet the budget needs for the The Salvation Army’s many community service programmes. The national fundraising target for 2010 is $75 million.
During the Red Shield Appeal doorknock, 29th May ~ 6th June, a maximum effort will be made to knock on every door in every town, city and even country areas.
The Red Shield Appeal sets out to ask every potential giver in industry, commerce and in private homes to give to this appeal. Thousands of people depend on the success of the Red Shield Appeal.
How are Red Shield Appeal funds used?
The Salvation Army helps more than 1 million Australians every year – that’s one person every 30 seconds!
In a typical week, across Australia, we provide*:
- 100,000 meals for the hungry
- 2,000 beds for the homeless
- 5,000 to 8,000 food vouchers
- 1,000 people with assistance in finding employment
- Refuge to 500 victims of abuse
- Assistance to 500 people addicted to drugs, alcohol or gambling
- Several thousand people with counselling
- 3,000 elderly people with aged care services
- 40 people in the court system with chaplaincy services
- Family tracing services which locate 40 missing family members
